Short description: 

This loading icon looks like crap because the nature of the gif is revealed against different color background — there is also no part of the item that feels consistent.

To consistently fix this icon we should:

  • add a background to the loading icon
  • dim (& block interaction with) other page elements
  • allow for easy use of the loading icon
  • and get the loading icon ready to be extended

Ideally we want a loading icon that looks like this
