Notes
Current State
- Risk #8 in the RAID log has become a problem. The filter's behavior temporarily degraded over the holiday break and fixing it via an upgrade to the latest release-candidate as per the Superset team's suggestion no longer seems viable without incurring significant work and/or risk.
- Several new, albeit minor risks, have also developed within the past week. The most significant one is that it's unclear who will automate issuance of the security certificate used for the NexLeaf section of the dashboard.
- Swetha Srinath (Unlicensed) is working two days this week and will be in Mozambique beginning on the 14th. Meanwhile, Timoteo Chaluco (Unlicensed) returns from vacation next week.
Decisions
- Swetha Srinath (Unlicensed) and Timoteo Chaluco (Unlicensed) will focus primarily on backend documentation, unaffected by the challenges we currently face with SuperSet's filters, the NexLeaf API and security certificate, etc. Clay has already offered to give us a walkthrough and training of the data-ingestion process. We'll take him up on it, being sure that Swetha Srinath (Unlicensed), Timoteo Chaluco (Unlicensed), and Felimone Amone Junior can all attend. This training will occur on or as near to the 17th as possible and help position Swetha and Timoteo to begin documenting the backend beginning the week of the 21st.
- Swetha Srinath (Unlicensed) and Timoteo Chaluco (Unlicensed) will create a high-level Quick Reference Guide. We'll hold off on more detailed documentation, though, because the likelihood of an upcoming upgrade or downgrade to Superset would limit the longevity of such documentation.
- Swetha Srinath (Unlicensed), Timoteo Chaluco (Unlicensed), and Ben Leibert will have a call on the week of the 21st in order to help Swetha and Timoteo prepare a demo of the system for Ida and Ruth. In addition to answering questions related to the system's current state, Ben will use the call to convey a menu of options regarding its near-future. As part of the demo, Timoteo and Swetha should be able to convey
- The pros and cons of the system as-is.
- The pros and cons of waiting to upgrade to the next version of SuperSet prior to official release of the dashboard.
- The timeline associated with this approach.
- Potentially, the pros and cons of downgrading to the previous version of SuperSet prior to official release of the dashboard.
- The timelines associated with this approach, if we decide to present it at all.
- The timelines associated with this approach, if we decide to present it at all.
- Swetha Srinath (Unlicensed) and Timoteo Chaluco (Unlicensed) will host a demo for Ida and Ruth the week of the 21st. They'll present the release-related options mentioned above and report back regarding Ruth/Ida's preference.
Longterm Topics
- We'll need to establish who's responsible for which aspects of system maintenance once the software is stable and in use. This may involve documentation how and when issue are escalated to Timoteo Chaluco (Unlicensed), the Seattle HQ, and to Ona.
- On a regular basis, perhaps once per quarter, we'll want to review and prioritize feature requests made for the dashboard.
- In the intermediate term, we may want to expose some additional Excel data through the PAV's national dashboard. In the even longer term, it's possible that we'll incorporate the PAV dashboard's charts directly into an instance of OpenLMIS v3.
