OpenLMIS Tech Stack slides or wiki page

Description

Create a slide deck or wiki page to explain the OpenLMIS 3 technical architecture and tech stack. The target audience is for people who may be totally new to OpenLMIS learning about what it is. The audience might have mixed technical skills, so it is fine to introduce and explain key technical concepts (like micro-services, Docker).

Contents (draft)

  • Micro-services/Modular for customization

  • APIs for interoperability

  • Show modules built in to v3 (Mary Jo has a diagram with Docker stack of containers)

  • Add own modules or customize/extend modules (maybe a report, a new screen, a new data fields)

  • How micro-services and APIs help with the shared value goal

  • Docker (runs on Linux, Windows, Mac, anything that supports Docker)

  • Runs on-premise (your own servers) or in the Cloud (AWS, etc)

  • Server requirements/memory/disk (depends on volume of facilities, # requisitions, #products, etc, but we can give initial AWS recommendations)

  • Laptop, Desktop, Tablet support (see 3.0.0 Release Notes)

  • Multi-lingual (see 3.0.0 Release Notes)

  • Interoperability scenarios: consume a facilities registry; integrate with DHIS2 to compare consumption data

Post to wiki so it's there for anyone who needs it for future presentations/meetings.

Yes this ticket is still in Roadmap, and it's a great idea. I don't think it's higher priority than the Implementer Toolkit or the Dev Onboarding documentation we are currently writing.

Is this ticket still open? Could we look at pulling this together? Possibly for the new dev onboarding webinar I mentioned in my emails to the social coder folks?
