Goals/Scope

  • This functionality would ensure that all vaccines and their associate products (diluents, syringes, safety boxes) and their specifications (# of doses in each vial, vial size etc) are captured in the system so that across all data entry and view screens, they are displayed as needed (for estimation, for stock management, etc).

Background

Gotta know what the product is!

Currently, there are anywhere between 8 and 15 vaccines that make up the vaccine product list, depending on the country's vaccination schedule. New vaccines are being rolled into a country's schedule almost on a yearly basis, and existing products could change their "presentation" which in the vaccine world means the vial size (i.e. # of usable doses in a vial). For instance, oral Polio vaccine could have either 10 doses in a vial or 20 doses in a vial and a country can order the former this year from the manufacturer and latter next year – so the system needs to be able to support this multiple changes as often as needed.
