Dec 7, 09:30 AM - 10:45 AM EST

Panelists: Kim Couri, Digital Square (Carl Fourie), PSM Mozambique (TBD)

Moderator: OpenLMIS steward (Rebecca A)

-->Stewards to report back at next governance committee call re: the discussion

Update on COVID19 EditionGaurav or Rebecca

Update on Dfid funding- Resilient Health Systems Innovation grant submission made it to the final round but ultimately was not successful.

Other suggestions from the group on funding? Leads?

Country Implementation update: Cameroon

  • continuing local interest and potential funding; funding being redirected to the deployment to enable trainings
  • risk remains high as the scope increases and need to raise funds to build team capacity
  • CHAI has engaged SolDevelo to support this work until the end of the year
  • Looking at how to position the product so its responsive to vaccine management needs; what needs to happen from a product perspective
  • DRC: things are quiet; alignment with PATH equipment management work
    • shared a high level ppt to be shared with MoH stakeholders and awaiting updates to see if there is interest/funding
  • In conversations with GAVI re: funding but nothing to report yet

Lindabeth: Are you working with Unicef and COVAX traceability work? To make sure that whatever you create can help extend the work they are doing

  • Gaurav: Convos with GAVI were in context of COVAX. LB: key contacts are: Ken Leggins  from ISG and Tom Woods from the World Bank are key contacts. Looking at Nigeria and Ethiopia as pilot countries. They are still working through the use cases.
  • Kelly: They have struggled a little to find their path. Might suggest PSM technical team, and his consultants, and Gates talk at a technical level. Their current focus is not on country implementation is at a global level re: transferring info across info systems. They also might not have funding (yet)
  • Kelly: There is increasingly a feeling that for a tracking/dispensing tool there will need to be a way to track batches or lots from a safety standpoint; capturing adverse reactions and counterfit. This is where OpenLMIS could fit in. There is confusion around standardized labeling and QR codes/barcodes. Desire to use QR code to replace other language on packaging. Ability to read a QR code is important
  • Ashraf: practically, vaccine vials are small and dont have space for large barcode to fit.
  • QR code only sends data one direction but it doesnt pull any data back. WHO guidance doesn't have a definition

Transitional Workstream Update: Partnership search

PDF of slides presented: 2020-11-10 GC Meeting Update (1).pdf

  • Candidate Update
  • Status of co-creation sessions with
IQVIA, Vitalliance &  Bileeta
  • candidates
  • Process and expectations for final voting (Rebecca)
    • Off cycle 90 minute call on Monday Nov 23rd
      • present final side-by-side comparison of what each partner is offering/proposing
      • Jean: Confirmed availability for meetings on 18th and 23rd
      • LB: confirmed availability for first hour of both meetings
    • Review of voting members
      • If you are a voting member and cannot attend the meeting on the 23rd, please select an alternative representative to attend
    • Update on Value of Data workstream
      • LB: Is there a plan to publish the findings from this? Gaurav: Yes we want to share this as widely as possibly. We are standardizing our data collection to enable smooth analysis and can be shared/benefit others
      • Ashraf: What is included in the country costing assessments? Gaurav: include line items that are required to continue running OpenLMIS over a year for example; to help us understand the proportion of that operational cost is the monetization of data able to cover. Ashraf response: highlight that this is in country's interest- to offset costs. This is how the Enterprise Support conversation dovetails

Operationalizing our Enterprise Support Model

Discussion/feedback from this group

Brandon Bowersox-JohnsonKim Couri
  • Changes being made to our approach based on your feedback last month
  • Update on status of country-level conversations & Commitment Status
  • Reflections from this process
    • Could have used a longer lead time for orienting countries and partners into this process
  • We need to reset our timeline:
    • Scenario 1: VR uses current grant funding to give free 6 month trial of Enterprise Support
    • Scenario 2: Continue to sell plans and don't shift approach
    • Scenario 3: Pause and wait for handover partner to market and sell these plans
  • Discussion re Strategic approach:
    • Ashraf: Their country teams are generally hesitant to commit to anything until they know more about the sustainability and who the handover partner is; what synergies they are proposing and what level of services they would offer. Prefer for option #3
    • Jean: PSM concerned with the handover partners; all are private companies so have different pricing structures. Concerned that proposed pricing would change. Prefer for option #3. Are Mozambique being charged for both systems? Yes it would be for both systems. In future state once they are integrated it would be integrated into one system
    • Gaurav: In the pdf we don't say what happens if they do not sign up. If we are thinking on scenario 1 we want to make sure countries realize what services they are getting for free (what is enterprise support and what is not). Brandon: We will be adding this back into our marketing materials to clarify

Opportunities documentation

Definitions to use shared terminology:

  • Implementation opportunity: an opportunity for an implementation or deployment of the OpenLMIS software.  Usually this is done at a national or sub-national level within a ministry of health. This can also include feature work which would be done within the implementation and contributed back to the global codebase.
  • Community opportunity: a funding opportunity to support an organization or individual to work directly on the global codebase and/or administrate the community processes. This may include funding specific features on the community roadmap.

Country implementation opportunities:

  • This Trello table is being updated on an ongoing basis; to help the core team to track and manage implementation opportunities, but also provides a detailed snapshot of the scope and status of current implementation opportunities for stakeholders.

Community Opportunities:

  • New Trello table! Similar to the above table, this tool is being used by the stewards to track our exploring of new product opportunities and partnerships

Study Tours:

  • Study Tours wiki page tracks applications received, study tours completed, and other key milestones related to OpenLMIS Study Tours (this activity is no longer active due to COVID-19)
