Background

* Although I previously mentioned that Azure offers a $5,000/year credit to non-profits, it would probably make sense to leverage it on a different project.

* We have about $12K dedicated to hosting the SELV-Dashboard, and it would be ideal if we can get it to last at least 12 months.

* We need to spend the money reserved for hosting prior to the end of June. We can also realize significant savings for the SELV-Dashboard project by using a reserved rather than on-demand EC2 instance. Committing to a "Convertible 1-Year Term" for whichever EC2 instances we need would probably be best.

* In addition to hosting the stack described here, we may want the same hardware to run the production instance of SELV. It currently runs on a dedicated t2.xlarge which costs $1766/year before tax. (Note that SELV-Training runs on a t2.medium at $438/year before tax.)

Q&A

Q: Do we indeed need to run SELV on the SELV+ hardware?
A: No. We can bill SELV to GAVI even if it runs on independent hardware.

Open Questions

* What size EC2/Azure instance(s) should we lease? (We'll ask Ona)
