Software Development Update

Mary Jo Kochendorfer (Deactivated) (15 minutes)

OpenLMIS 3.2.1. released. In next PC more updates will be provided.

Performance improvement related works were done. Outcome would be shared later.

3.2.1 is expected tomorrow (wed).

Sprint 40 backlog grooming is taking shape - CCE and inventory features are included in this sprint

3.3 release expected in Mar. Wk of Feb 5th will see a meeting with Gavi (vaccine related)

Dec- POC work for integration lab.

Ona started work on the reporting. A showcase will be every two weeks. PC is welcome to participate on the showcase. Ona already made progress with setup of NIFI and Apache Kafka.

Showcase in Feb from Ona is likely to include two indicator reports among  other items.

VR is having annual operational meeting in Nov 9th. Outcomes will be shared with PC

About aspirational roadmap (Ref Digital Sq), funding gaps will be identified.

For vaccine implementation, a MVP with a reference implementation is planned

Webinar on Nov 30th on vaccine module (ref. Copenhagen conference and roadmap developed there)

Discussion with DHIS2 (Oslo team)-- routine immunization module within DHIS2. A presentation is available. Focus was on immunization. 

Metadata repository can be useful to OpenLMIS PC

DHIS2 module should be complementary to OpenLMIS vaccine module, with interoperability between these two applications. 


Overall updates and topics under discussion:

  • No planned release until the vaccine MVP 3.3 release in March
  • Short-term Roadmap:
    • Dec: Proof of concept integration between DHIS2, OpenSRP and OpenLMIS. Planning happening GDHF: DHIS 2, OpenLMIS and OpenSRP Integration POC.
    • Feb (week of Feb 5): demoing stock management and features supporting vaccines (CCE, F&E, local fulfillment) to GAVI, Global Fund and others to spark interest in using OpenLMIS to manage vaccines.
    • March: release 3.3 with the minimal set of features to support managing vaccines sub-nationally
  • Ona has started to work on reporting. Showcases will be every two weeks an hour before this call.
  • OpenLMIS operational planning meetings on  
  • Aspirational roadmap: Still in progress 
  • DELAYED: Defining our mobile strategy. Are members willing to meet separately to help define the OpenLMIS vision for mobile applications? Put on your OpenLMIS hat (not your country hat or org hat) and outline the critical needs for OpenLMIS.
    • Currently we are working towards one new reference implementation with OpenSRP for the 3.3 release.  The details of the reference implementation are outlined here: OpenSRP and OpenLMIS Integration
    • Parambir Gill and Matt Berg has expressed interest.

Rachel Powers (Deactivated)

Rachel made a presentation on local fulfilment. It covers – viewing orders, editing orders, and performing pick/pack operation. Resupply of single or batched orders. Initial focus is on single order. 

Single facility doing resupply for own or lower facilities. Include routine and emergency fulfilment. 

Fulfilment process flow is available on the presentation slide 5.  Main persona is the person responsible for the order fulfilment.

A list of suitable commercial applications were identified.

Mockups are also available. More interactive work-in-progress will be demoed in next PC meeting.

There is a slack fulfilment & vaccine channels to share/contribute

Feel free to request access to slack channels.

Moving away from google groups to slack is encouraged

Next meeting:

  • Plan to discuss solution for emergency requisitions.
  • review the performance improvements achieved in 3.2.1
  • Hopefully review the aspirational roadmap

Moving the PC meeting by 1 hr early is under consideration.
